Counterfeit 04: Not My God

Money problems are often at the heart of our anxiousness. In his most well-known sermon, Jesus gave advice on how we can be set free from the financial worries that weigh us down.

Use the following to follow along with the message.

Matthew 6:19 Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal.

Matthew 6:20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.

Matthew 6:20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.

Matthew 6:22 The eye is the lamp of the body.  So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light.

Matthew 6:23 but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness.  If then the light in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

Matthew 6:24 No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to one, and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

“You’re Not My God” Keith Urban

It’s just a piece of paper
It says in God we trust
A little sure felt good
But a lot was not enough
Everybody loved me
When I was on a roll
And I thought I had everything
When I held the gold
But you’re not my God
You’re not my friend
You’re not the One
That I will walk with in the end
You’re not the truth
You’re a temporary shot
You ruin people’s lives and
You don’t give a second thought
You’re not my God

Matthew 6:21 “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

”Just the very act of letting go of money, or of some treasure, does something within us.  It destroys the demon greed.”
-Richard Foster
